COC encourages all artists to push themselves and cross boundaries that traditional training often inhibits. We test ourselves in rehearsal and in performance to reconsider whom our art serves, why we should create art, what the fuck is opera?, and in what context and style art is expected to happen.
If you feel COC is something you could get into, contact us, and let us know what you do, and why you’re interested in COC.
The only aesthetic requirement is for singers: You must be capable of producing an operatic sound, or at least a parody of an operatic sound. This doesn’t mean you have to have a voice big enough to fill the Met. All sizes fit COC. There are no auditions. We would simply ask that you attend a rehearsal, see if it’s your thing, and if you feel like taking the risk, dive in and join us in one of our opera jam sessions.
So get off your bum and help us create some kick-ass new work in opera and opera performance. Our COC is in your hands.
